SAP Business One ERP System Implementation ERP Implementation Case Study


The Guestline finance team and wider business were very frustrated with their current ERP system. There was little confidence that the system would support scaling the business and expanding overseas. The team felt like they were “running through treacle” while using it.

The ERP system was old and poorly configured to meet the needs of the business, was starting to creak and was creating lots of little problems. To get to the financial numbers a lot of spreadsheets were needed which was slow and expensive: approx. 10+ additional man-days per month


To implement a new system that would provide visibility at a granular level, control of the business and a platform to enable the business to expand overseas successfully.


Emerson Nash worked with the Guestline Finance Team to assess the requirements of a ERP system. We needed a system to support the business for the next 10 years. We assessed a variety of ERP systems and compared IT partner who could help implement the system. We worked alongside the Guestline team to design the data categories and coding to enable reporting aligned to the business needs to be available at the end of the project. During the ERP implementation phase, we were on hand to provide advice and project management support to provide:

  • Focus for the team on the important tasks and milestones. (All milestones were met)

  • Fresh ideas and challenge

  • A sounding board for team members

  • Our experience and support so the team did not feel like they were implementing the system on their own.

and get the team to go-live on the SAP ERP system.


Andrew, the FD, stated: “We should achieve a 15%-20% time saving each month” and we will “get better management of the cost base from across the business as they will have visibility and be able to manage it in real time”.

SAP B1 ERP system was implemented as planned, giving the business confidence to scale and expand overseas. 

The implementation delivered approx. £50k / year of direct savings and significant indirect savings. The foreign subsidiaries could access the new system remotely, making their work easier and quicker. Reporting was available in significantly less time, with more breadth and depth, allowing quicker and better decision making at all levels of the business.

Managers across the business gained visibility and confidence.
